Environmental Education
The aim of environmental education at DGJS is not only to equip students with current environmental knowledge or raise their awareness on the environmental challenges we face, but also to allow students to reflect on the impact of their habits on the environment, and give them opportunities to change them, if possible, for environmental protection.
The learning and understanding of different environmental issues begin in the GS curriculum, but their awareness is further enriched outside lesson time, during assembly sharing, special workshops and talks throughout the year. The Gardening and Environmental Club also provides an up-close and hands-on opportunity to raise students’ sensitivity towards our relationship with and the impact of our behavior on the environment.
To motivate students to put their understanding into action, the school participates in various external campaigns, such as the No air-con Night and the Earth Hour. We also organize internal activities throughout the school year, such as the Eco-star class pledge and recycling schemes and campaigns. The Environmental Ambassador Programme trains students to lead and serve the school community in these campaigns and influence people around them through their actions.
