Science and Technology
The Science curriculum aims to provide learning experiences so students can gain a better understanding of themselves and the world around them. The curriculum is designed to arouse students’ interest in and develop skills to enquire about themes and issues related to science and technology, health and society.
An integral part of the syllabus for each grade level is project learning. Each year, an annual project based on the curriculum’s topics is carried out to help consolidate knowledge and foster collaboration skills in our students. Presentation skills are established at a young age through simple projects such as producing a memoir to designing a healthy menu in the lower primary grades.
With current educational trends, the investigative approach has become an indispensable criterion of science education. The increasing prominence of this approach proves vital in order to equip students with the knowledge, skills and mind frame to inquire as they progress through their education. Students are exposed to the methods of investigation through experiences and taught the format of inquisition. In the upper primary levels, students are introduced to the steps of the approach and they demonstrate their understanding through their annual project.
At each level, students master and have a better grasp of the investigative method which eventually enables students to carry out a scientific investigation independently. Their investigation is showcased at a year-end science exhibition where they share their work with fellow peers and external guests.
