A Hands-On Journey into Sustainability: Primary 6 Students at HKRITA Open Lab
March 2025
During Project T, Primary 6 students visited the HKRITA Open Lab, focusing on sustainable textile innovation. They learned about the Green Machine 2.0, which recycles PET-cotton blended textiles, and the AI-powered Smart Garment Sorting System, enhancing recycling efficiency. Hands-on activities allowed students to cut and sort textiles, illustrating how used clothing can be transformed into new materials. This experience not only helped students visualize the recycling process, but also inspired them to think critically about their clothing consumption. By understanding the significance of sustainability in the fashion and textile industry, they are now better prepared to make conscious choices that contribute to a greener future.
