School Exchange Programme and Educational Tour: Singapore

The Singapore Exchange Programme was arranged in collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS) for our Primary 6 students who demonstrated good leadership. Accompanied by two teachers, Mrs B Lam and Miss K Li, and two parent helpers, they visited Singapore from 15th to 19th July, 2019. For the students, their wonderful time spent in SCGS with their peers was indeed most memorable. The school exchange programme truly broadened the students’ horizons. Together with the teachers, they attended lessons in language, mathematics, science and PE. Our SCGS host was even kind enough to organize an art session for our students to learn about Kolam – a form of Indian art using coloured rice to form pictures of vibrant patterns. On the last day at SCGS, our girls sang a song of farewell to their overseas friends to express their feelings of bitter sweet sorrow at their departing. Our girls have gained lifelong friendships on this trip and have a new-found appreciation of different cultures and ethnic groups. As learning extends beyond the school walls, our girls also had the opportunity to take part in different educational visits around Singapore, and some were accompanied by their Singaporean buddies. They learned about Singapore history at the Peranakan Museum and were astonished by the collection of exotic plants at the Gardens by the Bay. In a DNA Learning Lab workshop, our girls learned about DNA and even constructed DNA models of their very own.
